A good reason to run the oil pump before install

After re-pulling the engine I removed the oil pump drive gear and stuck a series of extensions down there to drive the 5/16" shaft. A plug was leaking. It was tight and had pipe dope on it. Still it was a leaker, big time. So I removed it and reinstalled it with Teflon tape.

What a bitch. Well at least you found it. There were no cracks around the plug were there?

Nope, no cracks. Just a poor seal on the dope. I teflon taped it so it should be fine. Had her out on the road today and it was sweet!
