    2.8 DOHC Twin turbo

ok so i found an article online about the European engines. vauxhall /opel/holden have a 2.8 dohc twin turbo engine that comes in the insignia and some upgraded vectra's pushes 325 hp and 327 ft/lb of torque. i figured it was just a new designed engine . but as i was reading it said they give thanks to GM for the preexisting 2.8 which they modified to make this new engine. now i know its a crazy longshot on here but seriously anybody have any clue what they used. because that would be an amazing motor to use for a toy. i checked around as much as possible i found some specs of the motor but none showed if it actually a 60 degree engine and how they made it a dohc motor. anyone have a clue about this. im very interested to learn more about it.

after reading i think its the same as the cadillac 2.8 dohc engine jus turbod n upgraded. but the question still remains is it a 60 degree engine? and would any transmissions bolt up to it such as a muncie 4 spd or isuzu 5 spd.

BINGO: existing 2.8 motor used in caddies

more reading if you want it.

it is still a 660, though highly evolved.

yes so im noticing. i scrapped my whole engine idea i was working with . took your advice sold my gt42 turbo to my friend for his ram. anyhow i started thinking i need a 1 of a kind setup for my car. and ran across the vauxhall info. im trying to find out what transmissions i could bolt this thing to because 800 bux for a engine isnt bad at all. and i can build from there.been lookin on fiero forums to see who has what. everyone goes with a 3800, 3.4 2.2 eco lt1 ls1 ls6 northstar v8 blah blah on and on. beings this car is my complete toy and custom project im very interested in this cadillac engine. any way i could find someone who would know anything about bolt up trans? my fiero has a 4 spd muncie which i really do like.

          according to wikipedia:

          for the SRX

          Transmissions
          Model Years Type
          V6 VVT (3.0 liter) 2009-? Hydra-Matic 6T70 6-speed automatic with Driver Shift Control.
V6 Turbo (2.8 liter) 2009-? Aisin Warner AF40 6-speed electronically controlled automatic with Driver Shift Control and Eco Mode

          camaro 3.6:

          misc:

sounds like it uses the same bellhousing pattern as any other 660...

so then technically the muncie would bolt up to it.and being it is a redesigned i wounder if the flywheels would match up also. i checked online and i could use my hptuners to tune the engine. i would just need a engine harness and ecm. along with the motor. hmm. never seen a twin turbo 2.8 doch in a fiero. .lol i gota get some more research on this engine because i think i might have a good idea.

the 4 speed SHOULD bolt up... i imagine the existing flywheel would work as well...

yes so i was reading. like i was saying earlier i would like to keep my stock tranny. i personaly like it and hell it only has 60k miles on it and was owned by and old man who only took the car out for spring summer days lol. and ill say it shifts smoother than most stick shift cars today . the engine comes with all forged internals from the factory. so i know im safe there. im guna add boost . more than the turbox but nothing too extreme at least for the first setup. i need to read more on it. im going to join a saab forum and try and get info from them.

Links to info from the GM Powertrain site (mostly 2008 model year info except the dyno chart):

Gotta love a broad torque curve

yea i found this all out now lol. ok now my question is y arent guys on here swapping this engine in any cars if its as good as it sounds. hell the saab 9-3 turbox has a significant amount of power and from what i read has alot of potential from there

To get the full potential out of the engine, you also need to swap the PCM. The way cars are set up nowadays, swapping the PCM also means swapping the BCM. Then you are looking at what all is connected to the BCM, and of that, what is required to make it function properly. The PCM also controls the tranny, so there is another piece of the puzzle that needs to either be included in the swap, or figured out how to delete from the program.

The swap sounds like a great idea until you really look at everything that goes into it, to make it work properly.
