Engine Swap Question (97 3100 into 95 Grand AM)

Hi guys, I just finished swapping a 1997 3100 lumina motor into a 1995 Grand Am. Everything went great and the motor runs great. However, I discovered what could be a major problem. On the old motor on the passenger side rear facing cylinder head, there is a temperature sensor on top coming out at a 45 degree angle that has a single green wire coming out. The new motor does not have this plug nor does it have the hole for it. I just finished putting the motor in the car this afternoon and have everything but this buttoned up. What do you guys do if you run into this problem. I hope to god I don't have to pull the motor and change the cylinder head. Thank you again everyone!

Also, the temp gauge does not work so I have to assume this sensor works the gauge and the electric fan.

a 97 3100 lumina SHOULD have a single 3 wire coolant temp sensor. it combines both sensors into one. the A and B pins are used for the ECM (which controls the cooling fan(s)), the C pin is for the instrument cluster.

Thank you for your quick reply. Honestly, I never even checked the coolent temp sensor. It was one of those after thoughts. Tomorrow if I can't find the old temp sensor I'll just head to the junkyard to clip a harness and to autozone for a new sensor. Thanks again!!
