    T5 vs T56

I got a 3.4 ironhead and a T5, I am toying with the idea of a T56 in its place. I assume the T56 would bolt up to the 3.4 the same as a T5 would... is the bellhousing larger or are there any differences that would make this impossible?

I believe the GM bellhousings are intrical. (sp?)

The other units that I know of have a different bolt pattern, but I bet there is a way, although these are not needed on the 3.4L... More of a bragging right item then anything.

I am not certain but the T56 appears to have a similar trans pattern to the Aisin transmission family found in the CTS, Solstice and Colorado. If this is true you can use the bellhousing found in the CTS with a 3.6L to mount it. But that only gets you so far. I am not sure on the input shaft stick out or pilot bearing size.

You could look into using the Aisin AY6 6 speed but I don't like the 4.15 to 2.33 1-2 shift. Otherwise I would seriously be considering one for my truck.
