Hm 282 vs F40 6 speed

I wanted to know which would be better??? because right now I have the hm282 installed in my alero but I was just wondering.

Remember I'm turbo'd
Est wheel horsepower after tuning will be 400 +

What do you guys recommand?

The Hm 282 that I have installed right now has LSD

nobody has pushed the limits with the f40 yet so no clue on what itll take. on the other hand, the hm282 is well proven past 40hp, the only downside is that they dont like shifting above 7000rpm.

Hmm that ain't prob for me , because I shift at 6500rpm. Rev limit is set at 6900rpm

I have found that if you swap the detent setup in the HM282 with one from a Quad 4 HO tranny it seems to shift better in the higher RPM's.

the detent block looks the same between the 2 trannies but the springs are different.

that F40 will require all kinds of crazy work to install, i'd stick with the tried and true. the HM282 should hold about anything you can give it as long as the diff bearings are in good shape. Axles will be the weak point.

I was just wondering to swap a F40 if I break the hm 282 , but lets hope it holds the power that the engine will make.

If you don't abuse the trans it should hold. Slicks and/or clutch dumps will surely break something with high power. The 6spd is expensive for parts and would require a lot of work. Joseph has done it in his Fiero take a look at what he did to get it to work.
