3.1 FWD motor to rear drive 700R4

My 1994 Corsica transmission went south. The motor is in excellent shape. I would like to use the motor in a custom longitudinal application. The motor mount fabrication is not a problem. What I need to know is if a third gen F car 2.8 700R4 would bolt up behind the 3.1 V6. If not, which 700R4 would? I understand that at some point GM 700R4s went to a Ford pattern. I believe that might have been 1994. So do I need to find a 700R4 from a 1994 or later F car?

Yup, it will certainly bolt up.

If you use the 2.8 flexplate you will need a starter shim, and if you use a 2.2L S10 flexplate you will not need a starter shim.

Thanks, Mars. So just to be clear, it's the 2.8 F car 700R4 that I'm looking for.....right?

      Thanks for the starter tip.

S-10's have have the same transmission.

700R4's would not have switched to any sort of a Ford pattern. They have the bellhousing cast as part of the case and match the engine they are bolted to
