284 info/vacuum port???

on the top of the 284 there is a vacuum port or some find of port next to all the linkage.

what is it for? will post a pic if needed.

Yep, that is just a vent. There is supposed to be a rubber hose that runs from there up to the driver's side strut tower where it hooks up to a metal tube shaped like a candy cane (to prevent water from entering). The metal tube is bolted to the strut tower.

My Isuzu tranny has one of those. But I thought someone mentioned something once about 'vacume assisted shifting' I dunno what good it would do, and it works just fine without anything hooked up. I always thought it was weird.
