    casting numbers

i have recently aquired two 60* v6 and im having trouble finding out exactly what i have on my hands (displacement, generation, car of origin, etc). these engines were complete block and heads strapped to a pallet given to me by someone cleaning out their garage. one engine is older i believe a 2.8 or 3.1 mpfi. there are no numbers i can see cast into the block though. the other i believe is a 3x00, it has roller lifters and d-shaped exhaust ports. the numbers on this block are 0137903 093. does anybody know a website where they have casting numbers listed for v-6s?

Look for a big letter cast into the block. Come back with those, and we'll probably be able to tell you.

I don't know if this helps or not but this is what I have:

10137093 on one side and a big 093 on the other - this is for a code M that was in a 1995 Grand AM

you're sure the newer block doesn't have an "A" "B" or "C" cast into the side?

no, just 093L on the left, 093R on the right, G1 under the timing cover, and H3 on the back
