    Alternator brackets

    Hello,

I have late ninetees luminas. The alternators have the two alternator braces, supports, brackets or whatever they are called to the right of the alternator and they bolt to the upper intake bolts.

If I ever get around to installing the later model manifold assembly, I don't have anywhere to bolt these braces on because the bolts holes were eliminated with the later model.

Stupid question: Are the braces necessary for the alternator?

Do I need to go to salvage yard and find later model ones (if possible)? What happens if I leave them off? Thanks.

I ran many years without the bracket on the back side of the alternator w/o any issues, and I know several other people are too.

I removed the cs130 and running the bigger cs144 on s-series just fine without the rear bracket.
