Hello, I am making the PCM harness from a 3100 out of a 98 malibu into a swap harness, and I have a PCM connector pinout. When going through each pin I noticed the oil pressure sending unit sends a signal to the PCM but has no direct output. Is this fed through the Serial II Data port to the idiot light on the instrument cluster or does the PCM need this signal for some function? Thanks.

When i did my LQ4 swap into my Chevy Astro i didn't even use the sender for the pcm I used a single wire sender and wired it right to the gauge

How exactly? That seems kinda strange...I am fairly certain at this point it is sent to the BCM through the serial data pin on the PCM. I know its not the same car but I have a Cadlliac SLS that starts and runs with absolutely no oil pressure (motor was already shot from previous owner, its a parts car).Originally posted by The_Raven View PostIt's simply used by the PCM to measure the fuel pump voltage.

ONLY if the fuel pump relay is fried is the oil pressure switch required to run the fuel pump.Originally posted by 1988GTU View PostIt should extend the cranking before it fires and starts up with no OPSU connected/broke/hodgepodged'89 Firebird, 3500 Turbo, T56, 9-bolt/4.11
