Replacement Fuel Pump for 2.8 Z Code High Output

I am having a problem find replacement mechanical fuel pump for 2.8 Z High Output in my 1983 Pontiac 6000 STE. As some may know this H.O. version of the 2.8 first appeared in the Chevy Citation (with a change to the fuel pump rod in 82). Both Delco and Airtex list the pump as # 42138 ( alternate 6442318 ) for the standard X code of the is engine but not the Z. Retail parts sources list the pump for both X and Z. Anyone know if this is the same pump, if it will work or if there is another source for the exact spec pump.

The pump is most likely the same. If not you can always return it as long as you don't run it. You will just have to remove yours a physically compare them.
