My 89 camaro has a speech impediment: it stutters at times, especially at low rpm's (idle-2000). At hi-way speeds its fine. After about 10mins at hi-way speed the service-engine-soon light comes on but does not seem to have any affect the running of the car. Any ideas?

How many miles on it did you say...? Timing Chain Set worn out? (Hear any chain slap at idle near the lower driver's side of the engine at the Timing Cover?)Comment

the engine only has about 2000-3000 miles on it. and i dont hear any slap but that dont mean a thing except that i'm deaf. haha! i've replaced the egr and plan on knockin out a new vacuum system this week.Float like a brick, sting like a HARDBALL!!Comment

I got it fixed! At least the idle problems. It was the vacuum system. Apparently a 19yo w/ only basic automotive skills can make a better vacuum system than a "professional" engine builder. Lol. Thanks for the help.
