    3100 crank pully came apart?

My sister just called, and sent me pics of their 3100 2000 GP... the whole outter ring of the crank pully came out while they were leaving their place.

Said the inner part and bolt are still there. But the picture from the engine bay is crappy and dark, so not sure whats all left by their description. But do 3100 pullys press on at all? or the bolt and key the only thing? Can't remember.

Does a puller have to be used i guess is what im getting at.. if so, wonder if there is enough there left to be used?

    Anyone seen/heard this happening?

Rare, but it could happen. Yes you'll need a puller. The outer part just has the rubber and part where the belt goes. The inner part will still have bolt holes for a puller.

This is not the first I heard/read about this. Kinda makes me sleep better that I have an aluminum udp.

It happens when the rubber rots out, no biggie. Just use a 3 bolt puller and take it off and slap on another one from a junk yard.

Coolio. Its been years since i've looked much at the bottom half of a 60* .

Car is an 01 with not alot of miles on it, but meh whatever, crap happens.

Gave them where to get one for $35 locally, and they are towing it to parents house to work on.

It must be a random bad batch of rubber or something. Mine is original with lots of miles and years, looks in great shape...

Make sure the one you get has the tone ring inside, if not transfer the old one into the new one carefully.

Not real common but have seen it.
Daily driven seem to last longer as it is moving and vibrating all the time, when a vehicle sits the rubber dries out and begins to separate.
