Depends on how well the guy took care of the engine. But, considering these engines use a hollow core cam, once they start to loose lubrication on a bearing, its pretty easy for the shaft to shear in half. I'm not saying it's something that happens all the time, but I'd like to say there has been 3-4 people on here in the last year or so with a snapped cam.

ok wow ok well if i needed to rebuild it could i use a 3400 cam instead of the 3100 cam? Would it net me anything? I know i could use the heads but what would i need to do in order for it to work w/o lots of time and money put into it with the stock 3100 harness?

3100 and 3400 cams are the exact same profile from start to finish, so you won't gain anything there.-Brad-
