    Knock Signal??

    Hey guys...

Today I burrowed my schools $4000 scan tool to check things out just because. Everything looks perfect, except I get a knock signal if I hit a hill in third gear and start pushing it. I also get a signal when I am on the highwayand start givin' er' in fourth gear. Its a super quick signal, like it only shows up for a split millisecond every roughly 5 seconds in the described situations.

Other wise, at high rpm and WOT, the scanner shows no signal at all. So maybe its a false knock????

I run 91 octane and have been since the crate 3.4 motor went in 13,000 miles ago. It is run on a stock GM 2.8 TBI computer with a large Holley 400 cfm TBI unit the feeds the 3.4 PLENTY of gas. I also have cold heat range spark plugs (UR6).

Should I be worried about this reading??

I wouldn't be, probably the sensor, my 3100 had one in it throwing false readings. Also running higher octane is absolutely ptless unless you are running high CR or boost.

its normal , the older computers aren't as fast as the newer ones so you will run into a quicklean situation during the throttle transition , if it lasts more than 1 sec then you might have fueling problems , but the obd1 systems ran real close to stoich at all times with a high ignition advance number , and its also not uncommon for the motor to knock once and a while ( 2-3 cycles which is less then a second ), while cruising when you hit a small rise in the road , its inaudable to you butt the sensor sees it .
