    MAP Question

    Hey,
I just put my upper intake manifold on and tried to start my car. It started and then quit, I check for an engine code and (MAP/BARO low input curcuit). Does anyone have any ideas of what I can look for, I checked my wires and they were all in tack. I have a 99 grand prix with a 3100 SFI.
    Thanks,
    Brandon

There is a vacuum line that connects the Map sensor to the manifold that is a little out of view because it is under the sensor. Is it hooked up and not leaking anywhere?

You might have broke the line or something. Pretty common thing when removing the plenum or doing rear plugs. I know Ive done it a couple of times. Once it was just a crack and really hard to track down.

Thanks for the info, I looked at everything and as I was putting things into place I noticed at the very base of the plug that one of the 3 wires had started to come apart. I think this is what may be wrong so I will have to solder it tomorrow.
          Thanks,
          Brandon

That wasen't the problem, I tried it again and it still won't start, I have checked the connectors, hoses, wires, leaks, and still I can't find anything that is wrong?
Is there a second fuse box on a 99 grand prix? If so where is it located at?
            Thanks,
            Brandon

there should be 3 fuse boxes, IIRC.

1 on the passenger side dash, by the door

2 in the engine bay, 1 on passenger, 1 on driver side. both are located right by the fender and the strut tower.

but none of them will have a fuse for your map i dont think

replace the map and see if that helps.

if you need one, i may have one laying around somewhere.

                engine probs

if the car was hard to start before it died (had to use throttle) you might have the plug wires crossed when I swapped the 3100 in my 1997 lumina about a month ago and replaced the plugwires while I was at it well the coil was marked 1-6 and the intake is numbered also, plug and play right, WRONG. it was 180 out 1 was 2, 3 was 4, 5 was 6 it had me dumbfounded so hopefully that can help. Even though there is no replacement for displacement fuel mileage sure is sweet

low input circut... so that means the power required for the sensor to vary isnt there? check for a short somewhere, maybe a wire got pinched during assembly, and is grounding out. but if you say it started up then died, then your sensor probably just crapped right then. once i went to shut my car off, and the cheap ass autozone icm died just as i touched the key, so the car died before i shut it down.
