    Shorter belt

Here's an idea that I just thought of. What is stopping me from putting a shorter belt on my car? That way I would bypass the AC compressor entirely and it wouldn't rattle because it's not being turned.

Would this work and is it even possible or am I on crazy pills?

your ac compressor rattles too huh? My sounds horrible when not engauged, I find that spraying some penertrating oil between the pully and the compressor keeps it quiet for about a week before it gets loud again.

If you can find the size and see if it wont hit anything then I guess you could try. But both autozone and napa dont make a belt for any 95 3.1L without a/c.

Penetrating oil huh....... What brand? I'd gladly try that just to get rid of the annoying noise. I also don't want this thing to seize up, burn through my belt and hurt other things.

Yeah, I've noticed that no one seems to make a shorter belt......

I cant remeber the brand right now, but it comes in a black spray can with a blue logo, they also make silicone lubricant and some other types of oils, I got it at pep boys for about $5. Im sure just about any good spray oil would work.
