    2.8L from a s-10 into a camaro

    hi there i am new here and i am seeking information regarding the difference between the first and second Gen of 60* v6's. i have a 1985 camaro v6 5spd and my engine is blown. i could get a 1989 s-10 2.8l for really cheap, what would i need to do in order to make it run. ( i want to put my Mpfi on it.) i still have my cast iron heads but i am wondering if i can just swap intake manifolds without changing heads (i dont have the same fuel injectors) last thing, can i put my heads on it? since the heads on the new engine are aluminium, valve and spark plug aren't posotioned the same way... i have manual tranny and i know i am gonna need a new flywheel since Gen II engines are internaly balanced.

    I'm surprised to hear you have a motor with aluminum heads in an 89. My 91 had iron heads, and all the stuff I've read indicates iron heads are the stock ones in an s10. If the engine is actually a gen 1 engine I'd use the s10 motor and flywheel and the camaro tranny+bellhousing should bolt up just fine. The s10 bellhousing should not be used because it puts the tranny straight up, rather than slightly tilted toward the driver,which the camaro bell housing does.

      i just supposed that the 1989 had aluminium cyl.heads but you are right, i guess alu heads were used only in cars, not trucks. that's relieving then i can put my heads on it, my exhaust manifolds are stuck on them, i didn't try to remove them tho.thanks for your help

        Alum heads were only used on FWD engines (and thus most cars), although there were some FWD vans that maintained the iron heads.

            You don't need to change anything at all on short block. Just swap the intake and related EFI components. Then swap the front cover and accessories over and finally your oil pan. Thats it have fun
