    those with BIG cams...

I'm planning out my cam for a built 3x00 right now.. but the specs i'm leaning towards are showing about 67 degrees of overlap.. which isn't very friendly towards the brakes and other accessories.

The Crane H 272-2 has 58 degrees of overlap, the Milzy stage 2 has right around 60 degrees....so if anyone who has those cams or bigger could let me know how it's working out for them it would be great..

this isn't a daily driver but it will be driven on the street...

    Thanks,
    Dave

I know when doing some tuning on fastalero's car, there were no issues with the brakes. He's runs Milzy's stage 2 cam and heads and I believe it's his DD.

welp, i fiddled with the specs and got the overlap down to 62.5 which i'm happy with. If i have problems then i'll check out the vacuum kits like Ortie666 said...

The brakes work fine with my Milzy stage 2, but if/when the engine bogs at idle, after it catches itself and revs up a bit, the pedal goes down further since it gets more vacuum

im jackal on all boards but DHP, dont ask why cause i dont know lol

but yea, i drive my car everyday and have had no engine problems. my brakes work fine but be warned, with that much overlap your car will not like rapid decel and will want to bog/stall out but that can be fixed with some tuning.

I never had any problem with my brakes, and I had a maximum idle vacuum of 11".

GM also uses it... envoy, Hummers, & other fleets they have it to.

Turbo GP's got the powermaster abs system that didn't use vacuum as well.

I don't have a big cam, but with my little bitty crane h260 cam my brakes didn't change at all....lol

well, i ran into a problem today. I decided it would be a good idea to take a 3500 head into the machine shop to check the LS6 springs and make sure i was ok with my .550 cam... Nope.

He said coil bind is at or around .560 and safe lift would be .500-.520 (pushing it). retainer to seal clearance was like .760 though.. lol

So, i'm looking for a new set of springs now. I like the ones Ben sells in the store from Comp, However Comp also has these listed *for* the GM V6..

                            what do you guys think?
