    Valve springs

I need to increase open spring presure from 215lbs to 250. Can I shim my new stock ones (2.8 iron heads) or should I get something aftermarket? Shim thickness suggestions? Thanks

The stock iron head springs are junk. Plus as they age they get weaker there is no telling what your springs are actually rated at today without testing them. Buy new springs.

yeah, pretty sure you won't be able to shim those stock springs without coil bind to suit your needs. then at the risk of possibly breaking your old weaker springs.
