    EGR adapter plate sources?

is anyone making an egr adapter plate affordably? i want to do the 3400 swap, but i have the tri-solenoid EGR and would prefer to keep it, than do a PCM and harness swap. and no, i don't want to just block off the port.

Who is making them, if anybody, and what kinda price are we talking?

BTW, this is for a 94 Olds Achieva w/3100.

Goto beretta.net and do a search. I know there is at least 1 person if not 2 that are making adapter plates.

What year 3400 are you going to use?
      I can make them
If we (Lloyd and I) get enought potential buyers we are going to make a bunch of them. There is more to it than just the plate. You have to make a special fitting in order for the old hose to attach to the new manifold. So if you wanted it done you would have to send me your old parts and I also need the hose for the new manifold.

i am perspectively looking for a post 2000 3400. basically, right now i am trying to get a rough guesstimate on price for the plate. if possible, i need little or no down time on the car. it's all i have for transportation. i'm a Transmission mechanic and work in an auto shop environment. I will be doing the swap in a matter of hours. so, i'm working on all of the pre-planning in advance. heh, i don't even have the 3400 yet.

If you get a UIM from a 99 3400 you won't need to get an adapter.

Yes you do. EGRs changed in 96, so any work done on a 94-95 will need an adapter.

I bought an adapter for my 2002 upper manifold from McGavinZ26 on beretta.net. My 95 egr mounted up no problem, using the original pipe. I just needed the gaskets for the 95 egr and the gasket for the 02 egr also, along with some longer screws to accomodate the adapter. I paid $60 plus shipping.

Yea your pipe bolted up because you have a 3100. But a 3.1L/2.8L needs a special fitting for the pipe off the 3.1 EGR system to bolt to the 3400 manifold. So far I do not think that anyone has done this except Geoff and I

LOL I just noticed the poster has a 3100. So the beretta.net adapter will work I guess???

But anyone with a 2.8L/3.1L will need more than just a plate.

when I went from a 95 3100 to a 99 3400 I had to have an adapter plate made. Mine is kind of ghetto and I would like to make a better on when I have time.

We bought gakets for both types of EGR and used those to make an adapter out of a 1/8" thick steel plate. You will need longer bolts when using the adapter plate.

In our case the adapter is about 1" thick it needs to be this long to provide enough lenght for the hose to reach the manifold.

Why? You'll only need the plate, just like the upgrading 3100 owners, because you'll obviously have (or should) switch the exhaust manifolds, so you'll already have all the regular 3x00 parts right there, just like the upgrading 3100 owners have! Unless you actually plan on using old exhaust manifolds and/or the EGR pipe!

I have done up a plate for a 3.1 egr for a 2000+ intake manifold as well.

Some pics are on my site near the bottom, although they don't show it the best.

Yes I have seen your site. I even e-mailed you about it. Looks very similar to ours like I said in the e-mail. But didn't you use muffler cement to make the hose fit the manifold?

I used shims and muffler cement to make the hose fit into the egr. It still uses the stock threaded nut thing to connect to the exhaust manifold. I think when I put that car back on the road (messed up power steering line, and got major problems taking it out, causing it to be off the road for a while) I may braze the hose on. Atleast, thats the plan so far, unless something better comes to mind. The shims/muffler cement worked as far as I can tell. I had a bit of an exhaust leak at high rpms, but it's likely that was coming from my homemade downpipe flange, and not the egr, as I first suspected. And that leak only happened sometimes.

Was it your pics of the adapter that were on v6z24.com recently? If so, your right, they look very similar, although your's is much prettier.
