I think it was a custom piece. I looked at the old thread where I originally saw it and tried going to the ebay item #, but it said it was invalid. Then I did a search on ebay, and nothing came up.

Here is what you should do...

RWD headers fit if you open the mounting holes a little (Camaro/Firebird, S10 etc). Not sure of the mounting configuration in the rail, but this may be a cheap/easy for you and give you a few choices.

S&S headers makes a set for the GA that would fit the alum head engines. For the iron heads, Edelbrock used to make some, although I'm not sure the current availability of them. You can also do custom. Contact betterthanyou on the site for a set of flanges.

Might also want to look on ebay, as I know a few months ago, there was a custom intake to allow a carb on aluminum heads. Not sure if it ever sold or not...

correct, the compression height of the 2.8 and 3.1 are different.. so if you are using a 3100 V6 with the 3.31" stroke crank you'll need to use 3.1 pistons form an iron headded engine.

the 3500 V6 parts will only fit on either a 3400 V6 (generation 3) and a 3.4 V6 (93-95 Camaro) due to the combustion chamber size.

I went with the whole 3500, it's 201 HP stock.. with a cam, headers and port work mine is pushing around 320 HP on regular pump gas.

3500s are newer, 2005+ I think. Not hard to find. $500 for a 30-40k mile engine from the salvage yards around here. Search for a 2005 Pontiac G6.

few more graphs in that thread..

Ben has flow sheets posted somewhere for 3100 and 3400 heads.

Do you have flow info for the 3rd Gen heads?

I won't comment on ARI but for the original engine you posted about, to use the iron heads you'll want to simply get the pistons out of a 3.1 Camaro, or order a set for one. they'll be nearly flattops and get your compression back up to a useable range.

Also, remember to use headgaskets for a 2.8/3.1 Camaro/S10 because they are thinner than the FWD ones and get you back to stock 3.1 compression.

it's not the compression loss that costs power, the iron heads flow terrible. Check out this graph showing the difference between 3.4 iron heads (the same as 2.8 and 3.1 irons) and the generation 3 3500V6 heads (the best out there for these engines).

Even ported the iron heads can't touch the FWD heads.
