    3400 or 3500

    if you were me what heads would you use and why? what does the 3500 heads do for my 3400 and what do i do for tuning (i'm in east texas) tell me all about the comp diff and everything else i cant find in the sorry excuse for a search function, i must be using it wrong!!

    I don't think U would need tuning to run 3500 heads. 3500 heads are far superior. I think ported 3400 heads are almost as good as 3500 heads.

      is there a COMPESION DIFFERENCE AND THE VALVES ARE FAR DIFFRENT INTHE TWO HEADS SO I KNOW THERE MUSTY BE MORE

        As far as CR differences, a stock 3400 has a CR of 9.6:1. If you put 3500 heads on an otherwise stock 3400, your new CR will be 9.16:1.

          so what's the advantage to the 3500 heads over the 3400's. And will I have to tune if I use 3500 heads with there lim and 3400 uim and a cam mild with a slight lope for the magnaflow or flowmasters

            Flow information is at the bottom of the 3500 page. As far as tuning goes, even a stock engine can benefit from tuning, as the stock tune is a mix that is suitable for all ranges of drivers and conditions. Question is, what vehicle are we even talking about?!? I mean, you just mention 3400... For all I know, we could be talking about a 1996 Chevy Venture minivan...

              no its not a van but i should of mentioned it sooner. its a 99' olds alero two dr red with the 16's i think it to be a gs maybe a gls without leather?

                  no i have mine and i just powder coated it red so $#@@ing sexy!! all i really need to know now mainly anyhow is will the 3400 pushrods work or do i need to use the 3500 or something all together diffrent?
