Valve Springs

I want to know if I can use yellow LS6 springs on a 83 iron head 2.8l.
If I can what do I need to do it right because I'll be using a cam with .460" lift on each side. This is the only thing that is holding me up on finishing the engine, any advice would be great. Thanks

You can but you will need a set of COMP Cams beehive retainers for engines with 11/32 valve stems. Unless you decide to install valves from an aluminum head motor in which case you will need valve guide inserts for 8mm valves.

COMP 787 retainers fir 11/32 stems and beehive springs.

The springs will be going in the large valve iron heads. Also what about locks

If you use the Comp retainers then use stock locks.

I have installed Beehive springs on a set of 4.3L heads which are basically the same as our iron heads. They have the same valve stems and the same valve seals and same install height and yes everything worked just fine.

ive got a set of yellow ls6 springs i never used i can let you have for a pretty decent price. pm me if you want.

why do you need those kind of springs for that little of lift? seems a little aggressive unless you have a very high duration cam.

Do you know the seat pressure of these springs and the p/n possibly for these springs I would be interested in going this route also.

It is, but in my defense I have been dealing with summit for many years so I go with who I trust, not I do not trust any of you it's more of a comfort factor.
