Connecting Rod Offset

Does anyone know anything about connecting rod offset? I'm looking a few sets of connecting rods and have been told by a few companies that some of their connecting rods have offset (SBC), while others don't (LS).

Just curious if anyone has run into this and knows the offset on the 60 degree V6 rods

Are you talking about the big end thrust cheek offset or the offset of the piston pin in the piston?

Not the piston pin offset. I guess it's cheek to check (??thrust face to thrust face??)

if your planning on making custom rods, go with what ben has listed, its cheaper than getting it done all yourself, otherwise, you want 283 SBC rods, SBC rod bearings, and you will be getting the large (offset) side machined down.

I actually have the complete opposite problem. I bought a crank that has .946 width rod journals. The Carrillo rods I have are set up for the old 2.8/3.1 crank with a 2.000" journal and the stock width. So... they are to narrow for the new crank.

On the upside I can use standard SBC bearings.

The problem now is finding a good rod with the right offset (not sure if there is any on the V6's just yet).

I'll have to measure one to see.

Anyone have any recommendations for a 2.000" SBC rod with no offset?


If not I may be having Carrillo make me a custom set (again).
