Im looking to installing a pcm from a 1997 or later 3100 to replace the non tunable 96 3100 pcm, would this cause the car to fail inspection because the pcm is for a different car, even though it would not set off any codes? If anybody has any experience with this in nys please reply

in Manitoba, and Canada for most that i know of, if you have a "modified vehicle" the vehicle has to meet the emmisions standards or greater of what the motor transplanted into the car came from, for instance a 350 from a 1981 vandura into a say 1996 firebird, needs a vented gas cap...
you should be fine, its not going to change anything anyways. -
