    any possible way

everyone says that its not possible to carb a 3100 aluminum head engine but there has to be some way if anyone is aware of a way it would be greatly appreciated some info on it ive been told to use a 2.8 intake manifold but it doesnt look like it will fit does anyone know of any other way i cant afford a whole other engine and mine is still good so id still like to use it even if i have to custom fab an intake just would care more for a carb and distributor setup i know alot of the mgb guys carb the 3400 and the 3100 and 3400 engines are only slightly different any help would be appreciated

There are no carb manifolds that will fit the gen 3 3100 (or gen 2) aluminum heads. You would have to make one.

the MGB guys go fuel injection, it's not that hard.

It would involve a custom distributor setup and a custom plenum at least.

i'd say custom lower intake even.... the longish LIM runners probably wouldn't due to well with fuel running throgh them.

It's been done but i agree, the long runners of the LIM aren't suited for carb use.

If the MGB guys went carbbed then they did it with gen 1 iron heads, there are GM and aftermarket carb manifolds that will fit them. Not interchangeable at all with the aluminum heads though.

there was no iron head 3100, the 3x00 motors are all aluminum head. the later(90-92 I think) 3rd generation F bodys had an iron headed 3.1 though.

                      yeah, 90-92 for the F-body iron head 3.1. the 93-95 F-body 3.4 is also a iron-head (gen 1) engine.

                          trottelg,

you really need to rotate that Q-jet 90*, you're not going to get optimal distribution with it that way at all, which will double hurt you since you are on an EFI manifold.

I know you keep telling me, but the primaries will either be offset to a bank or to the front or rear of the engine, I choose the offset to a bank so at least it will be even to every other power stroke, that, and the Qjet is built to run oriented fore and aft, so I guess we will see how it works out. how did you go about doing that? looks like a pretty good setup a bit tall though but worth it
