Build the engine well and give it NOS. You will have the 300 hp that you want (when you hit the button) but still be streetable. Just don't use it at every stop light..
Or boost it. Boosting involves a lot of work (not saying NOS doesn't). But if I were to do everything over again, I'd likely give it the bottle vs. blowing it.
