The input shaft on the tranny broke, I believe.

Yeah input shaft broke. Replaced that with a hardened one then the clutch disc's went bare and the material trashed up the valve body. So now it sits while I work on a replacement.

          284 swap?
          Current:
\'87 Fiero GT: 12.86@106 - too dam many valves; ran 12.94 @ 112 on new engine, then broke a CV joint
\'88 Fiero Formula: slow and attention getting; LZ8 followed by LLT power forthcoming
\'88 BMW 325iX: The penultimate driving machine awaiting a heart transplant

          Gone, mostly forgotten:
\'90 Pontiac 6000 SE AWD: slow but invisible

There's a guy running 10s in a cavalier with a built 4t65E. Might be worth looking in to.

I know the 65E can be built to handle the power, right now I have less then 500 into the 80E with a high stall converter, 3.71 gearing, and updated valve body. So I'm still way under the 2k price of a built trans.

I think I've read somewhere that the 80 isn't easily controlled. Do you already have a trans controller figured out?

from a control standpoint, it has the exact number and type of sensors as a 4T65.... i would say that if there are any control problems, they either aren't 4T80 specific or base calibrations aren't anywhere where they need to be.
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

hi BearBear; is there a link where I can see what you've done? Just picked up a crate LZ9 to put into my 308/fiero project.... Interested in doing 'something' extra but it will depend on long term reliability rather than total (ie momentary) power output.
Likely will pair it with a G6 6 spd manual.

                        thx

I'm thinking about putting a 3.9 and t5 in my miata. I tune my lsx stuff with hptuners. I want to go NA.

From what I gather 3.9 + 3.5 intake ported + cam + non phasing timing set/springs should have me somewhat close to 275+hp? A 3.9 bolts to a t5 correct?

Sounds about right and yes it will bolt to a T5

Where is everyone getting parts for these things? Wot-tech the only place?
