Not necessarily true... If you use a filter screwed right onto the block in an S-truck then it clears the crossmember just fine and doesn't interfere wht the starter.

I know on my Jimmy I DEFINITELY could not do that. I would have had to use a remote mount, if I couldn't use the stock adapter. 4x4 might be different, it's been a while since I looked at one of those.

I'm talking about a 2wd truck. We put a Gen II in my friend's Sonoma almost two years ago.

Must have been how you did the mounts. I know on my truck the mounts and crossmember were in the way to use anything but the stock adapter that turned the oil filter almost 90*, or remote mount.

so i need to find a II gen manual tranny for the v6. it might bolt up but id have to move some things around like the oil filter. not sure how i would go about remotely mounting a oil filter but it shouldn't be to difficult. engine mounts shouldnt be a problem if i have too.

Lol you can completely disregard the last few posts from The Raven and I.

You COULD use the tranny from a manual trans Gen II V6 J-body, but the better option is most likely the Getrag F23 from 00-02 2.2 OHV Cavaliers and Sunfires. (That's right, the 2.2 4-banger trans will bolt right to the 3400, as will the flywheel and clutch).
