    Air in the cooling system

I have a 91 Z24, every time I have to add coolant, it takes hours to bleed the air out of the system. I developed a hole in my heater core and connected the two hoses together to get home and it took 3 hours to bleed the system, the same thing happened when I replaced the lower radiator hose. I replaced the vent tube that goes from the top of the thermostat to the bottle thinking it was blocked but no luck. Help?
