  • Few questions, wiring, a line, and timing

OK, I just have a couple questions. I've been in a long process of working on my 3.4 and I've forgotton a few things as far as wires. I have a wire plug on the same cluster as the ones that pop into the air filter and hose, its a small grey plug, only one prong, no idea in hell where it goes. The second one I have is a small blue one, that plugs into the lower intake, just behind the thermostat, what exactly is that for? And anyone happen to know the part number for the receptor (not the plug, but what it plugs into) mine snapped.
Then I have a couple small, solid black lines that run from the right, across the back, to a small piece nutted down to the left back plenum bolt. A red wire plugs into that same piece. My problem on that, is that I'm not sure which of the two lines go into which of the two slots.
Lastly, timing. I need a way to find TDC and the exhaust stroke.
As you can see I'm no mechanic, I sort of jumped into something over my head and this is the stuff I need to unbury myself :P

I believe that is the fuel pump tester or something along those lines. It isn't plugged in in my car.

That should be the coolant temp. sender.

Can't really help you on the others.

There is no TDC on the exhaust stroke, because it can be intake or exhaust stroke since the banks aren't going to matter. That piece held down with a not on the plenum is for the charcoal cannister purge. One line is for the cannister, the other to the engine. The one closest to the plenum goes to the vacuum line on the TB.

So as far as timing, I just need TDC in #1 (back left), and line the cams up right? I suppose the cam position will determine what stroke and spark timing?

thats right, just make sure that you you use the little notch for tdc not the big line. if you paint it with a white or yellow paint marker it is much easier to line then up also run a line across the harmonic balancer where the groove is. that makes things much easier.
