  • 3.4 dohc lifter and or rocker

92 Pont GP 3.4 DOHC - I have a bad lifter and or rocker arm knock under the front valve cover. How difficult will it be to replace?
    1. remove valve cover, of course!
    2. do I have to remove the cam, timing belt? anything else?
    3. any adjustments?
    4. any precautions?
92 Gran Prix SE 3.4 dohc that has a bad knock in front head. I think it is a lifter or rocker.

if its a rocker arm I will be VERY SUPRISED...I just have a hunch that it isn't a rocker arm...don't know why though.

You have to pull the cam carrier to get to the lifters. There are no rocker arms, the cams ride on top of the lifters directly.

Well, gm, autozone, advance, or me. I haven't found the stock replacement lifters for cheaper than what I sell mine for ($12.50 each), and mine are 18% lighter as well. If you aren't replacing the whole set though, I would stick with stock replacements.

What makes your lifters lighter? BTW your store will be cool when it gets up!
When I pulled the carrier...I had the towel on top so the lifter fell all over the place <--what a newbie>

Ben are your stock replacement lifters 18g lighter, or are your performance lifters 18g lighter? Or do you only have one type? Just curious...

I don't sell stock replacements, just the lighter ones. They don't have a heavy weight on the face of the lifter basically. They are the same dimensions that matter (shorter side skirts, like the quad 4s, thats about it).
