aftermarket sparkplug wires???/possible group buy

are there any other aftermarket wires for the 96-97 dohc engines besides magnacor?

i have heard a few bad things about magnacor. 1 person said they pop off the coilpack and another said their resistence is higher than other manufacturer's

i haven't found any. taylor has wires for 91-95. i am going to talk to taylor tomorrow and see if i can get a set built if i can perhaps i can persuade them if had more peeps behind me on this. i was thinking about the getting them to use 10.4 mm wires

i don't know about getting a custom set made but the universal set is only 80 bucks. i think they are 50 ohms of resistence, is that good?

UPDATE: THEY HAVE AGREED!

I SENT THEM A STOCK SET OF 96 WIRES TO SEE IF THEY CAN COPY THEM, I ALSO SENT A FRONT VALVE COVER OFF OF A 96 TO INSURE PROPER SEALING IN THE FINISHED PRODUCT.

IT SHOULD TAKE 4 DAYS TO GET THERE AND THEY WILL CONTACT ME AND KEEP ME POSTED ON THEIR PROGRESS. THE REP SAID THE ONLY HARD PART WILL BE THE BOOTS, I TOLD HIM THEY LOOK DEVILISHLY SIMILIAR TO HONDA BOOTS USED IN THEIR DOHC MOTORS BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE THE SAME IN LENGTH.

HOPEFULLY I SHOULD KNOW SOMETHING IN 2 WEEKS!!!!

Stock wires have a shitload of resistance too, and you get no HP from less resistance. You get no better throttle response either, nor gas milage...or anything else for that matter. Resistance is a marketing aspect to get sales, not deliver any gains. 40k volts for 2 cylinders...I dont think you need to worry about it. What you do need to worry about is radio and electronic interference with sensors and the computer, and longevity.

Wow sounds good! BUt are they seriously going to be 10.4mm? I have 8.5MM on the 442 and those are nice and fat as it is. Would be more than enough I think.

well i have gotten word back from them, the tech at taylor said he can't help me right now but to keep in touch. so i ordered some magnecor's today. if taylor would have been successful they would have offered 8mm, 8.5mm, and 10.4mm.

yea $150 gets u the 8.5mm magnecor's and it still beats $171 for stockers at a local dealer. the link i gave for apex sells them for 134, but after shipping it is close to $150($142).

p.s. taylor does carry wires for the 91-95 though.

i got splitfire duel core and the main reason is that when its time to replace the old plugwires you just take them back with the receipt and tell them that the strated messing up and you get free replacements for the life of the car cause of the warrentee
worth the 60 bucks in my opinion
