im tired of scouring through the search function, so im gonna shoot this way....

anyway...i know the coil packs on GM cars are already great enough. i am looking at getting the Magnecore 8.5 mm wires, but am not sure what plug the 3.4 DOHC loves the most.

i was going to get Rapidfires for it, but my friend at the dealership said that i should avoid rapidfires in my motor and find platinums.

    anyone have suggestions for me?

    thanks

the dohc ate my platinum plugs in 2k miles. i found regular AC's to be the best

Just use regular AC delco. You aren't going to get performance from a spark plug unless its huge and increases compression a small amount. Don't count on that too much though.

I use AC Delco Rapidfires and they are just fine. I've had them in for about 10k miles and I think I'm gonna take them out to wire wheel and gap them.

Yeah... don't worry about gaining performance from plugs and wires... you won't... unless your electrodes are crusted and falling off and you have rusted coat-hangers for wires... then you'll notice some difference.

I've run NGK TR5's in both of my cars for the a while now... I've had ZERO problems with them. Plus, they cost 1/4 as much as Rapidfires!

That would mean they were $.50 a pop. Those are some damn cheap sparkplugs. I only paid $2.00 per plug + tax.

              I want your plugs!

I paid $4 per Rapidfire... the NGK's are only $1 each.

Well then by your logic, you are correct.

I only paid $2 each for Rapidfires... probably different prices for different stores / different parts of the world.

Yeah CEO's like screw certain areas of the world

I like NGK's iridium plugs, I have had them in my Lumina Euro since they were introduced. Only here they rip us 6-7 each dollars for those. Of course I got them when they were fresh on the market.

Have been running Rapidfire 8's in our LQ-1 motors here, they both run great. Coast about $4.50 per plug at Advance AP here in PA.

I would stay away from the platinum puppies, our waste-spark ignition system tends to eat them.
