OK, so my car was leaking a shit load of oil, like a quart in a day, and I was told that maybe valve guides or seals were the problem. So, I put the car in the garage and started tearing it down. I got down to the heads, with the lower intake manifold off, and found that all the bolts in the oil distribution block were loose. Two were only finger tight, and the others required only a quarter turn of the ratshit to loosen them up. So thats where the oil was going. Now for my question: Since I've already got the motor tore down this far, what are some good mods to do on the heads/cams/intakes etc? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

oh, yea, it kind of pissed me off when the car started leaking all that oil. I bought it in march, with 77,000 miles on it, a one owner car, but someones done something to it before, i found a socket jammed onto one of the LIM bolts, a 3/8", so someone who didn't know they were 10mm1993 Lumina Z34 - Broke Yet Again

Im running them now and so is pocket-rocket. He has lifter tick for some reason though and I have none at all. As for a difference, well I dunno cause I ported my heads out more at the same time and put an underdrive pulley on. I know they work, but I can't tell you just how much they do for you. Lighter valvetrain is always a good thing though, especially for high RPM.
If you want headwork done, I do that and have done several different variations on my car and a friends so I know what works, what doesn't work so well for low end, and what works very well (but is a lot more work). You can also have a machine shop do it, just make sure they know what they are doing with this motor and not just porting it out like mad. One of these days ill have my store up and running with pics and more details:PBen

He has over 100k, and I have about 37k. Our lifters however are the same age basically, though I probably have more miles on mine since I have been driving around a hell of a lot lately. I think he switched to 10W30 and they got quieter but he still has noise. I had noise when I was 1.5 quarts low but I added oil as soon as I started it up and heard them getting pissed.Ben

I ran his lifters in my car when I first got them and they did sound different. They didnt tick at all and sounded pretty sweet. I think they just don't like being in a lumina:P His engine is in great shape though. Its the only stock chip that I have seen be dead on for the fuel tables.Ben
