How about the first time you let me drive your car and the timing belt broke? Oh yes, I love your 91:P

I forgot about that, lol. I freaked out because the belt wasn't spinning and thought the timing chain broke, or the intermediate shaft busted. I am just glad it shredded around the intermediate shaft pulley and wasn't as bad to do as I thought. Fun times and crash courses in timing belt changes FTW! You want one of the valve springs for a momento when I part/scrap it out? :P-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

I have an '01 GP SE. My "first" car was given to me by my grandma, a '90 Escort 1.9, ugh. Old and rusy, but had a good ass time beatin the living piss out of it. Then three or so months after I got my license my dad told me that the Kuhman Corp. was selling some of their fleet vehicles(My dad does is a properties manager for a company who holds Kulman's account). He said they have a nice Grand Prix that I might like, that is in good shape, has 110,000 miles, and the only problem with it was the guy who drives it said the last time he drove it he heard a slight ticking. The VP of Kuhlman said he would sell it for 3000. We test drove it, my dad first, and we started off slow and then he floored the gas, I was like oh shit(this was back before I knew a "whole" lot about cars). I absolutly loved the sound and the kick, and even now I do, even if it is just a little 3100. The knocking turned out to be a lifter knock, so they told my dad either they would fix it and charge us 3000, or we pay for it they would sell it for 2000(1000 repair.). So we paid 2000 for the car and another grand for the repair. Then when we went to the bank they told us it was worth 7200. That made me even happier. That was Nov 2006. Still have and love my baby. And there are several kids I know with GT's but fuck em, I am paying for my car my self, not daddy and mommy buying it, so I cherish it way more. I am looking to put some money into mods eventually, but I dont know a whole lot on what PCM work and all that stuff needs to be done when i do yet, and waiting on cash. I also need to replace my rocker panels because they have rusted through, which sucks, but oh well. But the 60* is a beast, my dad has a 3800 Riviera, love that car to. I love GM cars, and will never buy an import in my life other than a European supercar if I could ever afford it, but I will always have my GM's.

I got my first car as a gift from my cousin/godfather. My cousin (godfathers daughter) wanted a new car, her first was a 1993 Z24. This was at the same time I had just gotten my permit so they just gave me her car! I worked on it, pretty much restoring it all while I was 16 and couldn't drive so when my 17th birthday rolled around I had a fresh coat of paint, and no rust. I am pretty damn lucky considering I was handed the car and my dad owns his own body shop so I had a ton of help repainting it. Now after driving it for a year with a stock engine I feel the need for speed and plan on a 3400 hybrid

My first 60degree was a 91 beratta 2.8L GT 5 speed that I swapped in a 3.1L, was an awesome ride, good speed and very good torque, I remember it sounded like an arcade race game when I floored it, every shift it snooted...Ended up shreading the sync gears out opps, then a 93 GP LE limited grey on grey 3.1L very good ride toasted the car in a accident but kept the engine and trans, moved back to my home town at 18 and landed a job (lab rat job) and got my 1993 euro in 1996, right away I started and perthra on electronic experiments on, most of which undocumented, alot have been reverted currently and was mainly obsessed with economy not perf. The euro currently has a ported and honed intake manifold that I got from some guy in mexico it works very well, I matched the heads.
My main love was my 1991 GP GTP 5 speed, I still wish I had it yet and still wonder if the car is still whole.I am back

^SMT huh? I ran an SMT lab. Matrix Industries. We had a full line. I'm talking I programmed the auto feeders/paste etc. We had a whole line assembly comprised of 3 Heads, with I think it was 6 feeders. I have some videos of the programming/entering the program, to watching the feeders actuate etc. It's cool shit.
Showing off my 5,000sq/ft facility that i own:
This is the Free Flow and the AOI:
Playing with the feeders and reels:
SMT head performing a Nozzle check:
Heads, communication terminals and part of the free flow oven

I'm lurking occasionaly. It's tough because I'm usually too busy with the Army or my 5.0 Mustang. Which is for sale.

Actually back when I was 18 I was a laboratory rat tach in a clean room for a pharmaceutical company,
I didn't a run a SMT machine until I started a DD , which is a (two machine) dual in line pilot Autotronik pick and place. I run the machines 3 times per week or so. Most parts have ther own smart feeder.Last edited by Juglenaut; 04-07-2008, 12:53 PM.I am back

Oh cool.
I ran the machine nearly everyday, and made upwards of 200 boards a day sometimes. Of course it was self feeding, all I had to do was enter the program from the terminal, and initiate communication from the comm term, load the feeders (what retardedness sometimes), set the liqpaste up, program the oven, program the AOI, and sham. Which usually ment pulling a buddy of mine over (he worked from a different company but was allowed usage of the labratory under my supervision) and we'd kick the shit. And debate politics. And check email.

I bought a 93 beretta for my first car, it had the 2.2. I got bored of that after about a month of driving it. I really want a Trans Am, but my dad said insurance would be too high for me to afford at 16 years old. I settled on my grand prix, i drove it every day five years, and just recently started letting it become a garage queen94 Grand Prix

my first 60 degree was a 1989 Cutlass Supreme international with the 2.8 MPFI, and the 5-speed manual. I like the car more than the engine at that time. It was not until I met Lorenzo that I got into the engine part of it.
My first ENGINE love was the 3100 I built and dropped into my 1988 Cutlass Supreme.
Right now, I am redoing it, and I am also working on a 3.4 DOHC for my 1995 Cutlass Supreme, and doing minor work to my 1990 Grand Prix STE with the 3.1 MPFI.Taylor

One day this guy came in and wanted shit done to a pair of ported 3400 heads. It was hard not to laugh at him. Then I got to know him and learned he knew his shit. He told me about this site and said I should check it out. I had no idea you could do that much w/ these motors, or that there was this many people interested in them. Sure you can find a forum for about anything out there, but not that many w/ REAL knowledge and good info like you can find here.because I\'m not Canadian
