You were part of the group buy right? If so I say just get a GM setup or as I'm running now the SA Gear chain with GM sprockets.
If your crank is already modded then you can easily swap the DRTC in when you do get it back if you feel comfortable running it.

So should I not even be waiting for this to come in? Because this is all I am waiting on for the rest of my build.

I have a full Cloyes DRTC set and it does not do what the TCE did in the video I posted... I will lift out of the sprocket a tiny bit at full 360* wrap of the chain but you can easily pull it into place meaning it will probably stretch a tiny bit to get happy but no where near as much as mine did. I could physically measure stretch on the chains I had from pin to pin so when I get told mine "wore" because of lack of oil I have trouble accepting that because there is no physical wear on the sprockets or chain, it's stretched metal which last time I checked does not happen due to lack of oiling.
I'm currently very skeptical of re-using these when I do get them back... especially if the chain still fits the same way as the video's I posted because if you can't fit the chain all the way down in the sprocket for the wrap necessary when on the engine then it's guaranteed the chain will stretch till the rollers touch the base circle of the sprocket... There is just no way around it.Last edited by 3400-95-Modified; 01-16-2014, 10:31 AM.

I guess I'm confused on how far along you were with this swap... I'm guessing the crank and bearings in your motor were already broken in and you were planning on swapping the crank out for the modded one which in turn would have necessitated new bearings...
I pulled the current crank got it modded and slapped it back in, didn't change the bearings at all so that's why i was only out gaskets and time to swap the original timing set back in after the failure.

I'd feel more comfortable using new bearings on a crank going in a different block.

how so on bearings? Currently I'm out the machine work on the crank since what was done is useless and I'm out the money on the DRTC's themselves... As stated all I did was pull the timing cover, remove the DRTC and put on a OEM set. Done, the modded crank is still in there.
