I don't see how your putting anyone down. I'm glad you said something before I installed and ran it... but like you I purchased 2 and really hope I didn't waste all that cash. I guess my build will have to wait until this is all worked out.

What the hell happened? I know you are not putting anyone down and so does everyone else. You did this to warn others.
Orangecky2k it has been said that the older sets with the TCE stamped on it are ok. So yes you should fear your new set until more info comes out.

My actions of posting this info was misinterpreted, so from here on out I'm just going to leave this subject alone.

New sprocket on bottom, used on top, hardly any wear.
Chain you can wiggle back and forth between links... new one has no movement like that.
And video of unused sprocket and new chain held in one spot and rotated.. Jumps one tooth.
I received an email from Marc, I'm waiting on a reply from him on if he wants me to post the details, but I will let you guys know do not worry he is working on a plan to fix this issue and as quick as he can too.
And yes it seems like all the original sets were cut fine (ones with TCE logo on them)... as I installed one on Robert's car and that had a bit of slack in the chain and worked just fine and still is working.

I would think this was a mistake by the gear cutter since the first sets seem to be fine and I would assume marc would have just given the gear cutter the same specs from the first batch.
This is a pretty shitty situation but hopefully everything works out for everyone. 3400-95-Modified I sure hope nothing else got damaged with that much slack in the chain.

Anyone heard any feedback from people with earlier timing sets?
@3400-95-Modified, I know this isn't your first experience with these timing sets......you built a motor for someone else a few years ago with a DRTC, right?

Yes there was absolutely no slack in the chain when installed, the chain fits the sprocket somewhat but there is just a little bit off on the pitch of the cut so if you wrap the chain around over 180* it does not lay into the sprocket without some effort to push it into the gears.
There is something wrong with the gear cut.
Someone did what I did above in the video with the first run sets and the chain does not do what I illustrated, it reacts like the stretched chain I have.

I'm hoping for Marc that he provided the gear cutter with the right chain spec and they F-ed it up which then he could request that they replace the material and other costs he lost out on to get them replaced... Shitty part is I'm not too keen on waiting another 8-12 weeks to get another set. I'd like to drive my car this year.

I built a motor for Robert using a first gen set... and 3400tz has an original set as well for comparison sounds like those were OK, I found a few issues other than the chain not fitting the sprocket when held in place on one side, mine is missing the oiling slots on the back of the cam gear... The ones with TCE engraved on the front have these slots on the rear for oiling...
Try this with your sprocket
New chain
Badly stretched one that now fits the profile
Also other pics.
