Ugh... Trying to use a 00+ EGR on a '97...

This is some pics of the 1999 upper intake manifold. When I did the LG8 intake swap to my 1996 Grand Prix, the EGR bolted right up to this manifold:





And this is the 2000+ style with the EGR adapter attached to it

Not true. I have one on my 1996 Grand Prix.

The 1999 3100 SFI upper intake manifold (LG*) came with the stock linear EGR mount.

Wow nice--looks like you've uncovered a little known fact. I mean it's too late for me now, lol, but that would mean a late 1999 Malibu might have had that plenum. Good info for future reference! I guess that would make it relatively rare though! Was it only the Malibu that got that or was it other 3100-equipped cars? (I.e. Could GP-base, Buick Century have had that too?)

So what I did so far was just the bolt on the back where the edge of the bolt (I used a bolt which is a bolt with the kind of built-in washer if you know what I mean) holds the tube against the EGR, like the guy on the GA forum had done. It actually holds it against the EGR surprisingly well, almost as good as if there had been a hole in the plate that lined up. I didn't use anything on the pipe (to make it larger) yet but what I did do was use the old gasket between the parts to make it fit more securely between the parts (the 00+ EGRs don't use a gasket on that side but these aren't exactly matching parts I have here, heh). Plus the pipe itself is quite rigid so I have no doubt that it's not going anywhere.

Works fine though, no MIL or anything coming on As for leaks, I can't really see anything leaking but I'll have to wait until I can pick up some more Seafoam the next time I go to the US, to see if it is/how bad it is (the white smoke is a great way to find an exhaust leak!).

What is the casting number for that plenum?
