  • I gots the blingity bling GTU wheels on the Sunbird

Yes, the wheels have had their clearcoat stripped... and yes the car is dirty. But that comes with driving on dirt roads alot. I've got ContiTouringContact 225/50-16 tires. They do fine just driving along, but when I hit a hard bump or turn real hard they rub a bit. I need to find out where...

I need to finish re-doing the wheels, but I was in desperate need of tires so I went ahead and put a set of ContiTouringContact 225/50-16 on the GTU wheels. Discovered that one wheel was pretty badly whopperjawed on the inside rim, but it doesn't seem to affect ride quality.

The goofy tire shop had a hell of a time getting the tires over the rims. It took 2-3 guys pretty much putting their combined weight on the sidewall to push it down enough for the machine to pull the tire over the rim.

So far I like them alot. Since they're a lower profile, I'm feeling every little ripple in the pavement, but that's no big deal.

Ever think of sandblasting the rims ?

Can you fit 245-50s on those ?

245's will rub on an L body with 16x7's so I would assume the same for a J body.

You have had those rims forever, glad to see em finally on. The more L body you have in'er the better your J will be :P

Either way you look at it, its still not a w body:P Those do look good though, despite the finish. I am running cutlass rims on the GP and they are in horrid condition (but look good anyway).

That'd be much too big in width and diameter. Right now, the 225/50s come right out to the edge of the fender, and even scrub a bit if I hit a hard bump.
