  • Stainless Steel brake lines.

Does any body have these on their car, and i mean the front and rear kit? I have front Discs and rear drums. I have seen these before, but wonder what all the hype is about. Tire rack says they really won't shorten the stopping distance unless it is from 100+ down to zero, and that even then it only shrtens it by 8-13 feet. So why all the hype ( the stuff i see other sites talikng about, or "the scence" with the rice rockets) are they worth the 130.00 bucks or no? As always, thanks for info.
Don\'t hate me because I\'m horny.

    RE: Stainless Steel brake lines.

Someone on v6z24.com said to just run zip ties around your rubber lines every 1/2" or so. I have stopped selling them on the store due to lack of demand and the long wait to receive them. Im not sure on their quality either. I read somewhere else that because they are still rubber on the inside, the owner won't know the line is bad until its too late. I have no experience, just repeating some of the bad things I have seen. Ive heard good things as well which is why I was selling them originally.

This is what I've heard about SS brakes, thanks to reading alot of *gasp!* import magazines! For the most part they need to be custom made as theres not alot of demand for them yet (except, of course, from ricers). They are basicly rubber hoses with SS braided outer sleeves. For along time they could not be DOT certified because they had serious abrasion problems (the rubber would rub the SS and shred). Finally they developed a teflon mid-jacket and thats how they got the 'cert. Now they actually last LONGER than normal hoses because the rubber swells less which results in a firmer brake pedal. Is it worth the cost for a set of custom made? Depends on how you drive. If you drive with a buckwild style and peel out from every green light and jam the brakes 5 second after red, probably not. Your brakes will wear alot faster as well as making things harder on everything else. If you drive normally and sometimes take the car to the track or are driving a track only car, then by all means, its well worth the money. You notice a greater amount of control under braking conditions and much better brake modulation. Brake wear will only be slightly more than normal once you become acustomed to the new braking chareristics
