Depends on how well the guy took care of the engine. But, considering these engines use a hollow core cam, once they start to loose lubrication on a bearing, its pretty easy for the shaft to shear in half. I'm not saying it's something that happens all the time, but I'd like to say there has been 3-4 people on here in the last year or so with a snapped cam.

ok wow ok well if i needed to rebuild it could i use a 3400 cam instead of the 3100 cam? Would it net me anything? I know i could use the heads but what would i need to do in order for it to work w/o lots of time and money put into it with the stock 3100 harness?Comment
