Sea Foam or GM Top Engine Cleaner?

I think some ideas are mixed up. I've heard of using a few qts or so of tranny fluid in the CRANKCASE for a short period of time to take advantage of its detergents and remove sludge. I've also heard of using water down the INTAKE of an engine to clean the combustion chamber.

actualy, we were talking about tranny fluid in the crankcase at work today (im a transmission tech). atf will actualy help clean the engine out. just dump about 1/2 a liter in the crankcase (make sure you dont overfill it) and leave it for a hundred miles or so, then change the oil.

ive heard seafoam works wonders. ive never tried any of those tricks before. i have heard the water trick works well (use a spray bottle and spray it on the tb). as for alcohol, it deffinitly wont hurt your motor. race motors run on straight alcohol, so it isnt gonna hurt anything. basicly do the same thing with it as you would the seafoam.

Wow, I guess you can put anything in the crankcase if you want to really clean the engine, lol, everything from water to ATF to alcohol, lol. Wonder how well shampoo works?

Nice, that mentions the water thing again. Thats a bit more water at once than I would have thought was good but I guess its no different than the top engine cleaner. TEC will burn though, and definetly breaks down carbon well (more so than the cheap bottles). Tested on a torn down motor, letting each type soak on a piston.

I have had no adverse effects from using Seafoam, also if you drive on it in the crankcase, use 10w oil and change it before winter.
