  • 1.7 rockers any that fit

    ok well ive been looking through tons of posts about rockers on here, and they are all over a year old.

    just looking to see if anyone found anything new about using 1.7 rockers on a 3x00 engine. got my new cam on the way from the store here and i was looking into the 1.7 rockers 2 yrs ago and didnt really get anywhere.

    i found a few posts talking about the 4.3 rockers anyone get these to work or have any 1,7's that work.

    No 1.7 ratio. 1.65 by HS is the best you will get on a 660

      you wouldnt happen to have the part number or a site for me to find them on.

      1.65 a little better than the 1.6 are the roller tip.

              Only the S1003 will work. It is a narrow body design. Also check out the SD1003 it has reduced mass on the rocker body which will give more clearance for 3X00 owners

                  Actually the 3900 and 07 3500 are the exceptions to the 1.6:1 rule, they both have 1.7:1 ratio rockers, and since the cylinder head for these two engines is apparently designed after the LS1 cylinderhead and the rockers look identical, you should be able to use the LS7s exhaust rockers and take advantage of the 1.8:1 stock rocker ratio it has.

                  The intake rockers for the LS7 are offset and that's why you would have to use the exhaust rocker only. Unfortunately the rockers are different than those found on the first design 3500 and earlier engines, and could only be used with some sort of adaptation which probably isn't worth the trouble.

                    so the 07 3500 one would work. are the earlier 3500 still 1.6 or are they 1.7

                      No, the 07 3500 1.7:1 rockers are not a direct fit, the mounting base is shorter, the first design 3500 from 04-06 has 1.6:1 rockers.

                      There is a picture in the 3900 thread;

                      It might be possible to modify the bolt hole to make interchange possible, there maybe a sleeve in the LS1 rocker giving the possibility of a hole large enough to fit the wider bolt and swop the pedestal bases.

                          Not sure if anyone is currently using these rockers, but will you need to use pushrod guide plates like with the gold race rockers?

                            The stock rockers should have a positioning notch like those found on the V6, I'm not sure what the 3800 rockers look like but the LS7 rockers are very similar to those found on the late model 3500 and 3900. You just have to specify the exhaust rocker because as seen above in the picture the intake rocker is offset and will not line up properly on any other cylinder head. I believe the pivot could be drilled out and the taller pedestal and larger bolt could be used to retrofit these rockers to the non VVT 3500 down. There is a step visible in the hole that looks like it would provide the needed bolt clearance once drilled out.

                              LS7 rockers are completely wrong. The stem to pivot distance is incorrect. They wont even work on a Gen I or II small block Chevy. Plus if you notice any LS7 or L92 head uses an offset intake rocker in order for the pushrod to clear the massive intake port.
