  • LA1 Intake's On An 98 L82?

I posted this up on W-body, But i wanted to ask you guys because i have been told you really know your stuff. So i am going to be doing the top swap in the next two days or so, And i am going to be buying the gaskets. I got the UIM and LIM off a 98 venture, But i was wanting to know if the gasket set for the venture would work on a L82. Should i just get the LIM and EGR gasket's for a 3100 and the the UIM and TB gasket's for a 3400?

    Thanks.

    Mike.

You just need the felpro set for the 98 3400. 98004T? 3 0s? I dunno but looking it up im sure you will recognize it.

Either will work. I went with 3100 lower kit, and grabbed the $4 3400 upper to do mine, but then again I didn't have roller rockers so thats why I got the 3100 kit. You have roller rockers so I doubt it will make much of a difference.

TB gaskets are the same, a 3100 gasket will have a big enough opening for a 56mm 3400 TB. You can swap the linkage between 3400/3100 TB's if the van is different BTW.

98 van should have the threaded coolant fitting on the LIM, and EGR will be the same so this should be a direct swap with no little issues at all.

Yes get the metal felpro or dorman kit. Dont want leaky plastic gaskets in the future!!!

No problem. Just get the metal felpro kit for the 3400 or the metal dorman one and you should be covered.

You'll like the top end increase.

The swap is done!! I got some new oil in it and it seems good so far, But i am going to do the oil again just to be safe. I did a WOT run and the top end is sooo much better. After i do the oil again, And clean all the junk out of it i will be sure to get some pics and vids.

It will get better too once the ECM re-learns the fuel table tweaks to the LTFTs.

Once you are done playing with the WOT, let me know how the MPG is You did let the silicone set before you drove it right.

I let it sit overnight. Im happy to let you know what my gas mileage is, But it might take a few weeks because i don't drive the car that much.
