  • There is a company that claims to be able to provide you with a stroker crank. JBP www.j-bodyperformance.com.

No the lumina engine is a gen2 design, it has aluminium heads. gen1 had iron heads.

    • I was going to respond about that mention of the output of my car, but for the record, if you use a trap speed calculator.....

A 3120 lb car (what mine weighs with Scott driving it) needs around 350-360 wheel HP to run a trap speed of 113 (my fastest trap). So, assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, that would be 400 flywheel HP. Not that I trust calculating HP that way, just thought I would clarify.......

That seems to actually be pretty accurate, since a 2003 Z06 has a curb weight of 3118 lbs and 405 flywheel HP, and it seems to run mid to high 12's @ around 110 mph, so that's pretty close.

      • or if money is not a issue you could drop an engine from a 2004 Chevy Impala ss since they have like 280hp with a 3800 serise SC gen ll.

        • We don't talk about the 3800 here...... It is a 90 degree engine.

Anyway, it's more like 250hp and would cost more than doing the turbo setup on my current motor. Why pay more for the same results??? And why pay more for heavy iron heads??? Alright, I'll just stop there........

          • My old beater motor probably could have dynoed 225 hp and over 320 ft lbs of tq but that was mainly due to nitrous.

I would be conservitive as usual and say my new motor probably could dyno 286 hp and 310 ft lbs at 7 psi , I think thats as much boost as I can get before it slips , dunno 4 sure. With a wet 50 shot obviously over 300 ponies but what I really want is to achieve 400 ft lbs of tq with 7 psi and a 50 shot. I like tq. Hp is cool , but tq just gets you going like whats funner for you , the quick 1st drop on a roller coaster or the faster part after the first hill? :P

I want to dyno! Blasted winter!

Also I noticed you guys are very worried about oem spec ecms and electronics. They arent that big of a deal, I would first off get all the power then dyno tune with the electronics.
              whats wrong with our heads?

                    • You want 300hp out of a 3400 motor. I'll let you know how soon. There are several people running in the mid 200's (me included) and it's just a matter of time before we hit 300. I'm planning on doing it by this spring. It just takes time to find all the things that need upgrading as you go, and the more power you make the more needs to be changed. Right now I'm working on heads, bigger injectors, and a computer tune. That should get me close to 300hp @ 11psi boost, and once I get the air/fuel curve straightened out I can tune my nitrous kit.

                      • lol you guys are thinking way to hard. Stop asking questions, use your brain think simple and build a motor!! John at APOC and I have hit over 300 horse in our cars, he had 3400 SC, I have 2.8 nitrous.. oh and guess what stock internals, our motors are way better than some of you even comprehend.
