  • can you build a set of D ports, 1/2", out of stainless?

    Comment

    • Yes. But not at the same cost. They will be $100 for the header flanges and 30 for shipping to the US.

Do you really want them or is this a pipe dream?

1/2" stainless is a big jump in material cost. I mean BIG

            • yes, I'm seriously considering the stainless 1/2". The cost is not a question, only the availability. I made a set of Dports myself, out of 3/8ths. they're individuals, not connected. they look pretty snazzy. They really open up the side of the motor so you can see the aluminum heads better, mine is in a rear wheel drive configuration. BUT, I'm currently looking at a set of T3 turbos and I'll need to build custom manifolds for them. A set of your connected flanges in stainless would be a good base. I will know in a few weeks , when my new contract comes due at work, if I can swing it now, or have to wait six weeks.

                        Titanium... That'd be somethin'.

                        • im just curious, but the advantage is in the weight savings and ability to withstand high temps

                          • How in the hell would you weld the stuff, with stainless rod? The titanium I mean.

                            • You weld Ti using TIG.

I have 3/8" stainless flanges commin in tonight. Sorry no 1/2" in stock tonight.

If you want the 3/8" I will sell em for $75. If you really want to hold out for the 1/2" then give me a few days to get material in. The other problem with 1/2" is it does not cut well on the laser so I will have to cut it on the water jet. The water jet is slower and there for alot more busy, so I have to wait for a free spot to get my stuff cut.
