4.6 Ford mustang throttle body will bolt on to the intake manifold with just a little touching up with a power drill, no adapter plates needed. However good luck with the throttle cable and IAC. I've never seen the 4.3 throttle body so I can't comment on its effectiveness.
Was it shown somewhere on this site that someone flowed the 3400 UIM vs. the 3500 UIM and found that stock vs. stock the 3400 made better flow number because it had a smoother transition to the LIM or am I hallucinating from sleep deprivation?

The test was done with 3400 heads, the 3400 LIM, and 3500 plenum. I should have my 3500 parts sometime this week so we will probably get to see how much better flow the 3500 heads flow along with the 3500 LIM with the 3500 plenum.2000 Grand Am GT

Question
What kind of additional horsepower would you figure on adding if you had a 96 3100 engine, and swapped on a 3500 LIM and heads along with a 3400 (03+) upper intake manifold?? Just curious to see if this is going to be worth it.It\'s Alive!

Why not use the 3500 plenum as well then? Im going to flow test it today since I ported it out last night. Im sure it will outflow the 3400 plenum, even ported.
No clue on the power increase with the 3500 heads and intake manifolds all swapped onto a 96 3100. Id say it would be worthwhile over any other sort of top end swap.Ben

You'd think that someone would make an adapter plate to mate the large port UIM to the small port LIM. It would have to be at least 3/4 in. thick though. I think it would be a high selling item. That way the 3500 UIM could be put on small port engines.

It wouldn't be worth it. Why spend the time and money designing something when it won't help performance probably at all. You can't take something that flows more and attach it to something that is going to restrict flow. The lower would be the bottleneck causing performance to lack. For the price of the adapters (and the ensuing possible hood clearance issues), you could probably find a lower manifold to install.-Brad-

I'm interested in trying this swap myself on my 3100 Lumina. If I did it, I'd go to a dyno shop and get actual numbers of the benefits of the swap, and if I could get my hands on a 3400 upper too I'd compare that as well just to see which is better. I'm still not sure what throttle body I'd use, in the interest of keeping things simple I'd probably just use the Impala TB.I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.
