I don't sell stock parts, sorry. car-part.com, ebay, and buy/sell/trade sections on this forum, grandamgt.com, aleromod.com, etc are good places to look.

Very cool, IsaacHayes
Thanks!
Ben, thanks for all the help. I know all of these questions can get frustrating, although I have three more now.
One, do you do the modifications necessary to the 3400 intake to make it clear the heads for an extra fee?
Two, would an unported lower intake work with a ported upper intake?
And three, if I were to buy the upper and lower 3400 intakes unported, what cars did these come off of and which years were the best?
Catch you guys later as I'm sure I will think of more questions. It's good to see so many people with performance knowledge of these engines.Last edited by 1995 Gold Ciera; 05-30-2008, 05:02 PM.1995 "Driftwood Metallic" Cutlass Ciera

Yes, I can make them clear for a bit extra. I don't even remember how much has to be removed but I have an engine to do the mock up and determine how much. I know its nothing like the gold race rockers so it shouldn't be a heck of a lot.
Ported lower is worth more performance wise so while you can do just the upper, I recommend the lower more so than the upper. (both is best).
2000+ are best. grand am, alero, malibu, grand prix (you can get any 2000+ 3100 parts too). Minivans even.Ben

Un touched lower

Ground (not enough actually, needs more for when the valve is closed, as the rocker is closer to the manifold then than when open)

Sounds good, Ben. Okay, let me see what I can find in regards to used 3400 manifolds and I'll send you a PM regarding what I plan to do. As far as I can tell right now, I think it may be in my best interest to just pay the core charge as I would hate to buy and sent manifolds that have a defect to you since I'm new to this.Originally posted by SappySE107 View PostYes, I can make them clear for a bit extra. I'm going to take your advice and stick with the stock 52mm TB for now until we all get the report from IsaacHayes about stepping up to a 65mm on a stock ECM.
Thanks again fellas!1995 "Driftwood Metallic" Cutlass Ciera

I think you'll be ok with 62mm if bzopi did that with a full 3400 in his 94 beretta (same ecm). I will see about 65mm on mine though sometime...
Wait, what body is a ciera? You don't have a MAF on your 3100 do you? Is that the oddball 3100?sigpic

Ok, your car is actually tuneable, with a new burned chip, thats the good news.
The bad news is you have some weird TB and an oddball 3100 /TB /MAF setup... LOL
Read this thread. You'll need a bit more work than the other 3100 cars as the A bodies are unique for some reason compared to all other cars.

You can make the stuff work just gotta get around that weird TB setup.sigpic

Ah, hell! I'd really have to go through all of that mess to swap to a 3400?
I wonder if there is any other way to get around swapping out all of that stuff. Say maybe matching a 3400 LIM up with a ported 3100 UIM from an A-body.
The money isn't such a big deal, it's the problem of having the car down for more than a weekend.
Wonder why they made all of this stuff oddball like that, doesn't make much sense to me.
Okay, so let's take a step back here.... *sigh*
Any other ideas?

You know what, I was reading that thread again that you posted Isaac and I saw the one post that 3100MPFI put saying he thought there may be a way to bypass the whole thing of having to rig up a 56mm TB.
Ben, what's your insight on this and what options do I have if my idea isn't feasible?
Man, I'm so psyched to get this rolling and get these parts

I don't see why using a normal TB with a seperate MAF wouldn't fix your problem. I am not sure on the mount I was reading about but I don't think that would be hard to deal with.Ben

I think one of the issues might be the MAF itself is different than a regular MAF, therefore a regular MAF might not interface correctly with the ECM. I'll have to see if I can find 3400-Modified's thread about when he was trying to swap in a Ciera ECM.-Brad-

The MAF has the same connector though, so it should be the same... The issue is the TB/MAF you have now does not bolt up to any other 3x00 stuff. And you can't use a 3100 upper on a 3400 lower, the ports are way too small, and the bolts do not match up (12 bolts for 3100 small port, 6 for 3400 or large port 3100).
Grabbing a 3400 TB and a 96+ MAF should work, after you adapter your throttle cables to hook up.sigpic

Alright, I'll sit tight until Brad finds to info.
I would guess rigging up the extra MAF and TB would take another day or so, so I just may have to do this on a 3 day weekend like July 4 or something.
Well, thanks again everyone. Sorry this is taking so much effort but I just want to make sure I do this right the first time.
BTW, are there any special tools needed for this?1995 "Driftwood Metallic" Cutlass Ciera

Well, it looks like he was having issues with the cam sensor, not the MAF.

No special tools and it shouldn't take a day to install a different TB and MAF. The MAF should already be wired up. Maybe an extension of the wires needs to be done but that would be the extent of it that I can imagine.Ben
